Have you ever wondered what Email Marketing is? Email Marketing is a marketing strategy used by Businesses to promote their products or services to a group of people using email. In this article, we’ll show you how to connect your contact form on your WordPress website to an email marketing service like Mailchimp.

Step 1: Create a Mailchimp Subscribe Form in WordPress

To create a Mailchimp Subscription form, you first need to install and activate the WPForms plugin on your WordPress Dashboard.

Then navigate to WPForms » Addons and find the Mailchimp Addon.

Install and activate the Mailchimp Addon.

Once you have activated the addon, click WPForms » Add New to create a new form.

On the setup area, create a name for your form and select the Newsletter Signup Form template from the options below and a simple Newsletter Signup form will be created.

The next thing you need to do is to customize the form fields as per your requirements. So go to the fields section and you can add your desired fields by dragging them from the left hand panel to the right hand panel.

Here you can make any changes to the form fields and also rearrange the order of the fields as you wish on your Mailchimp signup form.

While making changes to your form, one of the most important form fields to consider adding would be the GDPR Agreement field. 

The GDPR compliant is like a legal agreement between you and your subscribers  where you can store their personal information and keep sending them email marketing materials.

Please keep in mind that you need to make changes to the default language in the GDPR Form field and make sure to mention everything that’s important.

In order to change the GDPR Compliance setting you need to go to WPForms » Settings and click on the GDPR Enhancements checkbox.

After you have enabled the GDPR Enhancements, it now becomes easier for you to comply with the GDPR.

In fact, this also allows you to disable other options on the page such as User Cookies and User Details.

After you’ve completed customizing your form, click Save.

Step 2: Connect Your Signup Form to Mailchimp

The next step is to connect your Newsletter Signup form to Mailchimp. To d that you need to go to the Marketing section and then Choose Mailchimp.

After that you’ll be prompted to click on Add New Connection.

After you’ve clicked that a pop up box will appear asking you to enter a name for the connection.

Enter any name of your choice and then click Ok.

After you’ve entered a name for your connection, you’ll need to add your Mailchimp API Key on the next screen. You’ll find those Keys inside of your Mailchimp account.

Sign in to your Mailchimp account and then go to Your Profile » Extras » API Keys.

Just copy the API Key and then paste it into WPForms. Then confirm by clicking Add New Connection.

After you’ve entered your API Key, you will need to select your Mailchimp account and pick the email list you want your subscribers to be added and configure the rest of the form settings as shown in the following image.

After you have configured the form settings, click Save.

Step 3: Configure Your Form Notifications

The next step is to configure your form notification settings.

To do that, just enter your email address where you want to get notified on. By the way, WPForms automatically sends notification email to the website admin.

You can also use smart tags to send a notification to your subscribers letting them know that their form has been received.

Step 4: Configure Your Form Confirmations

Confirmations are necessary to let your subscribers know immediately that their form has been successfully submitted.

Here, WPForms gives you three types of confirmations to choose from:

  1. Message: You can create your own custom message here that you want to be displayed once your site visitor has submitted the form.
  2. Show Page: You can direct your site visitor to a specific webpage or Thank you page on your website once they’ve submitted the form.
  3. Go to URL: You can redirect your site visitor to an external website.

Step 5: Add Your Mailchimp Form to Your Website

Finally, the last step would be to add the Mailchimp Subscribe form to your website.

You can add your Subscribe form to several locations on your website such as on a post, a page or even on your sidebar.

For example, you can just create a new post or a page and then click on Add Form button and then select the desired form from the dropdown menu and then click Add Form.

After you’ve added the form, publish your post or page and your form will appear on your website as shown in the image below.
